HAUSU is a HOUSE.
-HAUSU is a house. It has a kitchen with a stove and a fridge, a modern bathroom, a flush toilet, and, of course, a bed.
The small living room features a carefully curated collection of artworks.
When you arrive, you’re home.
It is a GALLERY.
-The artworks displayed in the small living room are selected especially for each guest.
In other words, this exhibition belongs to you.
With hundreds of millions of possible combinations, every exhibition is unique. No exhibition is ever shown twice.
It is a CAFE.
-Tea and snacks on the table. Beer or whisky if you prefer.
Stories are shared. Conversations wander. Curiosity leads the way.
And somewhere along the journey, you find a place to belong.
“HAUSU” is an exhibition space located in Nirasaki City, Yamanashi, created by converting the living room of a single-story house. It operates on a strictly reservation-only basis, welcoming only one group per day.
The space features works by several artists curated by HAUSU, and the selection of pieces on display is tailored to each visiting guest.
By the time the next group arrives, the exhibition will have changed entirely. No exhibition is ever shown twice.
After all, this exhibition space is a living room. The walls aren’t stark white, and chairs and glasses are placed on the table. You can hear birds chirping, light streams in through the windows, and a gentle breeze moves through the room.
Rather than studying the artworks, simply spend time with them. Sit, look, and let them become part of the landscape around you.
Savour the feeling of art existing within everyday life.
1. Reservation
Please select your preferred date and time on the TICKET page to complete your reservation. In addition to the reservation confirmation email, HAUSU will contact you separately.
2. Interview
I’ll ask you a few questions via email. Based on our conversation, I’ll design the space and create an exhibition just for you.
3. On the day
Please let us know your estimated arrival time, either at the address we provide in advance or at the nearest station.
If you are arriving by train, we will be waiting to welcome you at the station.
